| Boston United Over Night Trip 2005
|
On the 26th March 2005 Yeovil Town were due to play old rivals Boston United in an ordinary league game. This soon changed though with the fixture becoming subject to national exposure with Sky’s decision to cover it live. With the kick off moved to mid-day Yeovil Town supporters were unfortunately put under the unenviable task of having to get up at 4am in order to make the kick off in Lincolnshire. As a result the Green and White supporters club decided that in the interest of a good night’s sleep and the chance of a night out on the town they would give people the opportunity of travelling up to Boston the day before the match.
|
| In the end, the Green and White Supporters Club needed to take two coaches up to the Boston United match. One coach full of well balanced sane people such as Paul Hadlow, Dave Abbott, Robin and Tracy Evans, Gayle Franklin, Roy Toogood, Mike Kunz, Ben ‘the Stud Muffin’ Simpson, Nick Gillingham, Di Kingston, Nick James, Sara Bradley, Roger Penny and many more went up the night before, with the second coach filled with idiots such as Ali King and Joe Wills travelled up on the morning of the match and therefore had to get up at some ungodly hour!
Paul Hadlow organised both journeys, and in partucular

did his homework for the over night trip with perfection, managing to book every one into a very nice place on the edge of the town called the Boston Comfort Hotel. On arriving the supporters soon booked in and were very happy to discover that the hotel had excellent facilities, encluding a good sized bar, which much to Nick James’ delight was in easy reach of the front door!
After having something to eat the supporters split into two main groups. The first decided that they would spend a relaxing evening enjoying some quality conversation and sampling some well balanced northern hospitality. The second group however decided that the only option was to

Sadly we are unable to give out any details of the frivolities because we do not want to embarrass Tracy Evans! Oops!! There were, it has to be said several Somerset people in Boston that evening, who shall we say, enjoyed a full and varied alcoholic experience, of which Ben Simpson, Nick James, Roger Penny and in particular Tracy herself were the worst offenders!
Tracy is pictured here to the left, and to all intents and purposes looks relatively soba. On closer inspection though you should note the fact that she having to support herself

against the table and the way in which her eye pupils are slanting! And this was before the hardened drinking got underway! When fully on the razzle, Tracy and the rest bought a whole new meaning to the term ‘dancing on the tables! We understand that there were pictures taken of this alcohol-induced event, but unfortunately the Sunday Sport got to them before we could get any copies! You’ll therefore just have to use some imagination, and be happy in the knowledge that all got home safe and well.

| The next day saw a few sore heads, but apart from that everyone was reasonably with it, and ready for the big game. It was a brilliant result too as the Glovers managed to win at Boston for the first time in recent years with a well fought out 2-1 win thanks to two great goals from Captain Courageous Terry Skiverton. We always win on Sky!!
Both coaches then returned to the hotel where a mass of green and white decked out the bar and watched the England game on television. Another great win, and a brilliant way to end a very enjoyable few days.
