Local Pubs:
Alcohol is available within the ground to away supporters in the Arkells Stand. (but not in the Stratton Bank End) There is also a good spead of pubs in the immediate area of the County Ground. The best of these are as follows:
The County Hotel - Located next to the ground Nothing speacial but a decent enough place to have a pre-match drink.
The Cricket Club - Located further down County Road A very friendly, as well as cheap club that always welcomes away supporters. Also has cheap parking.
The Merlin - Located on Drove Road, near to the magic roundabout. Away supporters are welcome, but no team colours are allowed. They have Sky Sports showing on 12 television screens and even in the gents!
|
Local Takeaways etc:
There is a fair spread of takeaways in the area around the County Ground with the highly recommended 'Frying Fish' fish and chip shop on Drove Road near to the ground the pick of the bunch. Unfortunately apart from a Burger King near to the cricket ground, we have no other specific information on other outlets.
|
Quick Ground Guide:
The County Ground is full of character, though it is on the whole dated with poor facilities. At one end of the ground is the Stratton Bank Stand. This was formally an open terrace, and was converted just by bolting seats on to it. It is therefore a bit crampt and with no roof is open to the elements, and is recognisable through the clock and small electric scoreboard above it. Opposite this is the small, covered Town End, which has several supporting pillars across it’s front. To the sides are two larger, two tiered covered stands which tower above the two ends. The newest of these is the Nationwide Stand, while on the other side is the older Arkells Stand. The latter has windshields on either side and a few supporting pillars.
|
Away Supporters Experience:
We away supporters are located in the South Stand at one end of the pitch. This area can accommodate up to 850 people, but if required an additional 300 seats can be made available in the Hargrave Stand.
It should be noted that like Huish Park all tickets have to be bought from the ticket office before entering the turnstiles.
The local supporters are described as quite passionate, which often gives this compact ground a good atmosphere. Your visit to this arena should be a pleasant one with the club having good facilities, an excellent standard of stewarding and friendly supporters.
|
Stadium Catering:
The refreshments served at the ground are not of the best standard, but are comprised of a reasonably good range of hot and cold drinks and snacks, including of course the usual Pukka pies, with the Famous Chicken Balti Pie' priced at £2.20. Be careful when carrying your bits back to your seat. To get back into the stand you have to go through some large solid doors which open towards you, so if you do not have a free hand you may have a little trouble!
|
Disabled Supporters:
Stadium Access - Access is reasonably level.
Wheelchair Places - 6 places are allocated for Away supporters an area on the corner of the Arkells Stand. Helper seats are a mixture of adjacent and behind.
Toilets - 1 adapted toilet in Arkells Stand for Away supporters.
Parking - Parking is limited to the main car park behind the Town End Stand on a first come first served basis.
Visual Places - 4 spaces at the rear of the Arkells Stand with commentary provided by Hospital Radio
Hearing Places - No facilities available.
Ambulant Places - No facilities available.
Catering Arrangements - No special arrangements, although it is likely that steward assistance will be available

How to get to the Stadium:
Phone Paul Hadlow on 07736 044570 and book yourself onto one of the GWSC coaches going to the match. Turn up at either Huish Park, Yeovil Bus station, the Little Chef at Ilminster or at the Blackbrook lay-by in Taunton at the allotted times, get onto the coach, and travel up in style with no worries of getting lost, breaking down or having to find a place to park at the ground.

If you do choose to make your own way all the way up to Suffolk – here’s how you can get to the ground:
By Road:
From M4 Junc.15 follow A345 (Queens Drive) to Drake's roundabout. Turn left towards the Magic Roundabout, The County Ground is on the corner of this roundabout.
By Rail:
The ground is walkable from Swindon train station and will take you around 10-15 minutes. Leave the station, cross the road and proceed up the road between the two pubs (Great Western and Queen's Tap), continue to end of road. Turn left, proceed along Manchester Road, through traffic lights as far as you can go. At the junction turn right. The County Ground is about 300 yards up this road on the left.
Parking:
At the ground it is mainly street parking wherever you can find a space. Otherwise you can park at the cricket club. This can be found by taking the County Road off the Magic Roundabout, go past the County Hotel on your right and you will see a small sign further down on your right for football parking, just before the mini roundabout. You can also park at St Josephs School by the ground at a cost of £3.
